Established in 1958, Thermit Welding (GB) Ltd is the principal supplier, and only UK based manufacturer of Aluminothermic welding processes and equipment, focussed on the Railway Industry. Throughout its life, the company has progressively strengthened its relationship with the railway construction businesses and track authorities, so that in addition to producing and distributing materials and equipment for its Thermit Welding processes, the company provides technical support and research and development, operator training, and on site supervision.

In recent years the scope of the business has increased to encompass a diverse range of on-site services, from Thermit Weld Installation to track inspection, repair, re-surfacing and grinding of rails, and stabilisation of ballast.

In October 2000 the Thermit Welding (GB) Ltd, established a Thermit Weld Installation Service to support its core business manufacturing and supplying our Thermit Welding processes and associated products and equipment. At the same time all the support services were grouped under the new division called TWS (Thermit Welding Services). The division, located in Derby, provides specialist training, track technology, and track maintenance services, including rail welding, surfacing and grinding. Supported by Goldschmidt Thermit Rail (GTR) the company is introducing a range of new products and services focused on the light rail, urban, and tram railway networks in the UK.




The company S.Q.E. policies and procedures are audited by Network Rail through their Link-Up scheme, and we are certificated to ISO 9000 -2000. Training is approved by Network Rail and has been audited through CSWITO. We employ specialist consultants to advise on Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental legislation, and employment law. We are a member of the British Safety Council.
