Product Development
Thermit Welding (GB) ltd remains committed to developing Thermit products and processes to customers specific requirements. In addition, our site welding team provides regular feedback on any process problems, and indicates where improvements may be made. All welding processes are developed and tested in accordance with the European standards, but initial field trials normally form part of the UK industry approval process and we provide materials, welding and inspection resources and site technical support throughout the project. New products introduced through this process include:
- The Thermit SkV-E welding method with fixed height preheating
- The Thermit SkV-L80 composite welding method
- The Single Use Crucible
Working with the client we support our production and engineering departments to develop Welding methods for specific applications such as new rail materials, rail profiles or novel track designs, such as the Balfour Beatty BB 140 embedded Rail, and new applications such as the Thermit Rail Head Repair process under development for Network Rail. We also undertake longer term development (for example Gas Pressure Welding) for which we can call on the technical resources and analytical capability of the Goldschmidt Thermit Group.
