Aluminothermic Welding

We now provide a team of highly specialist Thermit welders, with all support equipment, transport and consumables for weld installation both in the UK and throughout the EU. Our welders are competent to use all our approved processes which include:

• SkV -E, F & SkV-T
• SkV-L50 & 80 Wide Gap
• Crane Rails (SkS) and Grooved Rails (SrZ)
• Composite - (standard and L80)

The company has now introduced our new Single Use Crucible (SUC) to our welding business and, is progressing with introducing the new Thermit Processes - SkV-E with low pressure preheating into the industry, with the new single use crucible,-SUC.

Gas Pressure Welding

To date the Gas Pressure welding process has not seen use in Europe, however, the method is seen as a direct alternative to the mobile flash butt method, but may have some advantages in terms of reduced capital investment, reduced welding costs, and greater portability. In addition there could be additional benefits associated with the technical properties of the weld. TWS and GTG have been the leaders in developing the process, (which now forms part of a European funded research programme), and we currently have the only operational Gas pressure Welding machine in Europe.

Once approved for UK use, the process will offer:

• High quality welds - comparable with Flash Butt welds
• High Mobility - the equipment is portable and lightweight - compared with Flash butt welding plant
• Adaptability for welding HT rails
• Semi automatic in operation
• Low Operating costs and highly competitive installed price
