Removal of Rail Coatings

The increased use of rails with protective coatings raises problems if and when the rail is to be welded, as the final weld quality may be compromised. Using our laboratory facilities we have evaluated Thermit weld quality against these coatings and developed methods of removing the coatings to prepare the rail surfaces for welding. Our service can also offer the option of protecting the uncoated welded joint by the manual application of an approved coating.
